Having spent my life as a musician in Manchester (DeLix, The Vagabons), and running an online blog (The Repeater), I would rarely come into contact with vintage synthesizers and drum machines. I started off writing using a Korg Microkorg and later added software emulations of the Arp 2600 and Jupiter 8 to the process, dreaming one day of owning the hardware and playing one in real life. As the prices keep increasing the opportunity to own or even use these iconic instruments becomes further out of reach for the vast majority of musicians.
Manchester has always had a strong electronic scene producing world renowned artists such as New Order, 808 State, The 1975 and The Chemical Brothers. Our ambitious project dusts off the cobwebs and puts the instruments that shaped the music industry in front of current and future musicians.
This collection has taken over 20 years to assemble and we are opening this up to you, to write, create and record over 300 pieces of elite equipment, used by the biggest artists on the most iconic tracks.
Please reach out to us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are a UK based company and our studio is located in the heart of Stockport centre, near Manchester.
We have 300+ synthesisers, drum machines, samplers, effects units dating from the 1950s to present day! These include Moog, Roland, Oberheim, Arp, Octave Plateau, Korg, Linn, Elka, Siel, Alesis, Akai, Kawai, Crumar, Buchla plus many many more.
You can book in to visit the studio through our booking system.
All the equipment has been serviced regularly. Though you can never guarantee 100% it will be issue free, we will replace any instrument with a close alternative should anything unexpected arise.
Some of these instruments are 70 years and we expect them to be treated with respect and care as a lot now sit in museums. We aim to have 95% of equipment available at any given time.
